Comfortable, versatile and effortlessly chic – slouchy pants have everything and more to make it as a stellar wardrobe staple. And for girls, who dig the just-stumbled-out-of-the-bed look, here’s some great news coming your way – the humble slouch pants just got a stylish do-over!

And this season, it’s about taking the look from the brunch to your boardroom. On the lookout for fail-safe advice to ace the look? Trust these city-based stylists and designers as they lay out the laws…

“Slouchy pants have been a favourite among fashionistas and minimalists alike. And the reason being, they are easy to style and works well for all body types. For women wanting to carry the look from office to party, pick one in a dark shade like a navy blue. If you’re ready to go all out, pick a fun shade like tangerine. But ensure you even it out with say a white blouson. Tuck in the top, for work. Throw over a black blazer for a sharp and striking appeal. Pairing slouchy pants with a spaghetti top and throwing a maxi shrug over is also a neat choice,” suggests Divya Joshi, a Bengaluru based fashion designer. However, keeping the cardinal rules of fashion in mind, it is always a good idea to team up with some well-thought out key accessories.

“Chokers are in and so are chunky neck pieces, but, for work, it’s best advised to keep the look to the minimum – a simple plain chain with a big pendant works. Settle for something that complements the look, and not go overboard with the accessorising because the idea of the look is to give out a free spirited vibe and not seem clustered,” adds Dhwani Bakshi, a women’s fashion stylist.

In keeping with the trend, one of the biggest pluses about slouchy pants is how it’s spot on for all body types. Opining about the same fashion designer Neha Kukreja adds, “The trick lies in picking up pleats as per your silhouette. For those on the heavier side, steer clear of slouchy pants with creases, pleats or drapes on the waist. Instead, opt for pants that fall flat on the waist. This is because the more pleats you have around the hip area, the more volume it adds. On the other hand, skinny women can go all out with pleats around the waist and hip area.”

Given how no outfit is complete without paying heed to the feet, fashion stylist Manpreet Kaur sages tips to consider while picking the footwear. “Strappy sandals are in. And flats are the best bet for slouchy pants. Both high and low gladiators work. For a casual desi spin, opt for mojaris and kolhapuris.”
